A Projection based work looking at objects and memories.
While YouTube and Vimeo are both both video sharing sites, YouTube seems to be suited to a bit of anything, while Vimeo comes across as a library of more accomplished, or professional works.

Some of My Own 3D Images
After buying my 3D monitor I played around with creating 3D images, of my 3D Maya models. Here are some images.
These will only look correct in full screen in 3D mode.
Working With 3D
Recently I have bought myself a passive 3d monitor, which has lead me to want to experiment in 3d. 3D works along along the lines of shooting what you would see with each eye, and when you see a 3D video with 3d switched off, it is simply the view of each eye side by side.
This is a still from the 3d movie - Puss in Boots
It its simply the left eye on the left and the right eye on the right, and when overlayed with each only seeing their respected image, you have a three dimensional outcome.

Mudbox Speed Sculpting
Mudbox is an Autodesk program that allows you to sculpt objects and characters from basic starting shapes.
It also has a feature that allows you to record you work at a sped up pace.
There are a lot of speed sculpting videos on YouTube that show the workflow of many digital artists using Mudbox. Here's an example, of a work by TheConceptPainter

A Discussion on Social Networking and Digital Communities.
I think Social networking and digital communities are a great idea. Through networking you are constantly learning things about the world, whether through talking to people in other countries or reading stories and watching videos that have been shared around the world.
I myself are part of a number of online digital communities including Facebook.
Social Networking sites such as Facebook are great for keeping in touch and sustaining relationships with those you usually wouldn't. While some people post constant status updates and like to keep everyone up to date with their lives, I prefer to use the site as a way to keep in contact with people and also for group discussions and organizing, which Facebook is quick and ideal for.
I'm not the biggest online gamer around but I do enjoy gaming and I am part of the Steam online community where I can talk to friends and we can play online together.
YouTube is a regular for video viewing and I am a regular browser. And as Michael talked about in class YouTube is a great way to show videos and create a fan base and following, especially in the gaming community. A gamer that I particularly enjoy is Dunkey or 'videogamedunkey'. With currently 385 uploaded videos of mainly computer games, Dunkey has a massive following with almost half a million subscribers and over 121 million video views.
Dunkey's YouTube page: https://www.youtube.com/user/videogamedunkey
The ability to share videos is a massive deal in terms of what people can teach you over the internet. Through the digital community, 'Digital Tutors' I have learnt a lot that there is no way I would have otherwise, Digital Tutors provides in depth video tutorials in the field of animation, CGI and special effects (FX). Although It is a video database which you have to pay to subscribe to, tutorials are given by professionals currently in the industry and so far it has been worth every cent, I honestly cant wait to learn more. The site provides forums for discussion and questions, what more could I want.

Throughout the blog I will link videos that are relevant to to what im trying to do as well as my own and I guess we'll just see how it goes.
My "After Second Life" Project
Today we were given our 4th small project of the semester for second year Electronic Arts, entitled
"After Second Life: digital communities, networks and sustaining relationships"
In this project we are asked to look at a variety of social networking and digital communities and respond to it, incorporating what we have learnt, through a blog.
For my Project I want to discuss the ways people have used social networking and various specific digital communities that appeal to me, particularly video based communities, for example; YouTube.
I want to look at reasons people share their videos, and how these communities can be used to promote your work or let you share your knowledge.
My practice is Electronic Arts, and I am in particular, interested in 3D Modelling and Animation, which is a very time consuming practice, and I am only just beginning to learn what there is to know. Using what I do know my aim for this project is to create my own videos, maybe 10 over the next 3 weeks. This way i'll learn the practicalities of video sharing and how this can be used in the Future to promote and share my work.
For me this is all part of the learning process, and hopefully this blog will allow me to share my learning's and opinions, and help advance my practice.
